Mr. Raymond Sibley
Science

Master of Science in Geoscience

“The important thing in science is not so much to obtain new facts as to discover new ways of thinking about them.” -William Lawrence Bragg

Science at Trinity…develops my students’ awareness of the world around them. As a teacher, I explain things as completely as possible and I like it when I am able to make complicated things simpler. In class, we will do hands-on experiments, models, demonstrations and create and label diagrams to show what we are learning. I want you to learn the material before you read about it so you understand better what you read. I like to travel, explore, and jump into nature. In the winter I like sledding and in the summer I like to boogie board in the surf. My favorite music is hymns because they are peaceful and uplifting. I have also enjoyed the Beach Boys and Boston. (Strange mix, I know). Vacations will find me in the mountains, the shores of the Outer Banks, or with relatives--collecting rocks and fossils on the way. Until then I am happy to stay after school and help you out any day that I can.

“Mr. Sibley gives help when I need it. I understand the material so much better now! He is easy to talk to and his awesome personality makes class that much better.”
-Liz, Senior

Mr. Jim Lambert
Mathematics
Bachelor of Science in Education and Mathematics
Bachelor of Arts in Psychology

“There are three types of people in this world: those who can count, and those who can't.” – Unknown

Of the “three” types of people in the quote above, which one are you? Math at Trinity…can be challenging, but it can also be fun. Sure, you’ll have homework and assessments…but you’ll also enjoy hands-on learning through games, friendly debates with your classmates, and special projects. My goal is to make your education in mathematics challenging, interesting, applicable, and enjoyable--but most of all effective and inspiring. This will help prepare you for success in higher education, in thinking critically and independently, in your future career, and in life. When I played pro basketball in Taiwan, I used math to figure out my statistics. When I hiked the Incan Trail in Peru, I used math to figure out the time and distance to the next rest stop! In my years of teaching and coaching, seeing my students reach their goals has been one of my favorite goals.

“In Mr. Lambert’s class you are not just another number. You gain skills for inside the classroom as well as helpful skills to be a successful and effective member of society. He makes math seem easy as “pi”!” -Olivia, Junior

"Love is not love which alters when its alteration finds, nor bends with the removant to remove.  Oh no! It is an ever-fixed mark that looks on tempest and is not shaken." -Shakespeare

I believe unconditional love and acceptance are the main ingredients for changing lives, and changed lives can change the world. It amazes me how despite circumstances and our human understanding of our lives, God always has a plan. We know that "all things work together for good for those that love God and are called according to His purpose." Romans 8:28. I know, with all my heart, God has called me to Trinity Prep. I’m so thankful to be here! I cherish the moments of revelation on my students' faces, when they connect the dots that have been blurred blobs for so long. I view my job as an opportunity to teach my students how to analyze, critique, and read the deeper meaning in literature and life in general. Knowledge is not power, but the ability to understand and decipher the knowledge being taught is a most powerful tool. I long to be a note of hope for all those I encounter; in so attempting, I cling to the scripture, "Show me your ways, O Lord, teach me your paths; guide me in your truth and teach me, for you are God my Savior, and my hope is in you all day long."  Psalm 25:4-5

“Every artist dips his brush in his own soul, and paints his own nature into his pictures.” -Henry Ward Beecher

Art at Trinity…is all around us. I am a lover of Art in any form. Because of this, I have experienced many job experiences and I have a story to share about each one of them! It is my interesting background that shapes my work. Our classroom at Trinity is indeed a gallery. We study and create paintings, sculptures, photography, printmaking and who knows what else. I love to make you wonder and then put that on a canvas. I have traveled around the world on mission trips and found inspiration just about everywhere. I love to play the piano and the guitar. My family is my strength and teaching is my passion. While Art is personal, we form a community as we work.

“Mr. Carter has inspired me to be the best artist that I can be, to never give up and always be myself. Until I had Mr. Carter, I never knew that Art class could be so intellectual and fun at that same time.” -Emily, Senior

Mr. P.J. Bess
History

Bachelors of Science in Economics

“The history of the world is but the biography of great men.”
–Thomas Carlyle

History at Trinity...is a treasure hunt. I have discovered history to be an invitation into the lives of great people and the times in which they lived. In my classroom, we aim to examine those people we have known to help shape the world in which we live today. We strive to make history come alive, and to walk in the footsteps of those who have gone before us. My deep appreciation for history and its significance has lead me down my own path of discovery. My goal is to help each student discover their own path and blaze their own trail. So that they too… would be a history maker!

“Being a part of history class has benefited me greatly. We do so much more than just memorize dates, we actually take an in-depth look at the people and topics we are studying. History is now one of my favorite classes!” -Harrison, Senior
